But that suggests that truth no longer has the capacity to drive voters or Americans. If that's true, republicanism is finished as a principle – if we can only lie to voters to get them to vote for us, that undermines the decency of republicanism altogether.

If we can offer up proposals that address the concerns that are driving people in that direction I think we'd be better off for it. C., and the poor and middle class are getting squeezed while people at the top and people with influence in government seem always to be doing better.

The risk of Trump winning, however remote, represents the biggest national security threat that the United States faces today.
