Emotional Quotes - page 14
It should be clear by now that there are people who can, in fact, be reasonably considered experts; that it is rational to rely, within limits, on ex pert opinion; and that it is possible, by exercising relatively simple criteria, to gain insight into whether a particular expert is reliable or not. It is also true that experts, of course, do make mistakes, and that even the agreement of a large majority of experts in a field does not guarantee that they got it right. That's the nature of scientific truth, as we have seen throughout this book: it is tentative, because it is the result of a human endeavor that is limited both by the type and amount of available evidence and by humans' finite mental powers and emotional reactions. But the examples above show how you can, with a little bit of practice, tell science from bunk!

We were aware of her profile, and it was... first, it's artistic: can she do it? Is she capable of handling this? Can she handle it emotionally? The song. Because it's a very emotional song. Can she handle it melodically? Does she have the range for it? Second, now then, you've got that, now you look to see...because it's a very strange duet, and I've always said it was meant to be a duet. I had the song in '86, and I don't care what anybody else says; I know it was my song, it was given to me in '86, I was gonna do it, it was always gonna be a duet, and I think the only real life of it is a duet. And that's my opinion, and my opinion only. That's it. But when it's a duet, it's a definitive duet. And then because of how it's a call-and-response duet, you needed the timbre of the voices. If you get someone with the same timbres... I'm being analytical, but that's exactly why we picked Marion Raven. And then on the fourth hand... what, she's twenty-two years old? She can get MTV where I can't!

We did the ‘unplugged' project, "Acoustica", in Portugal. There was always something new and exciting. In-between all these records and projects we're still touring all over the world: last year, with this latest album, "Unbreakable”, we went back to Japan and played in Scandinavia again; before we come to Tel Aviv, we play in Paris, at "Olympia”; we go back to Russia, we play Kazan, the only show this year with an orchestra; so there's a lot of things. And that, I think, keeps us going, and the fact that after all these years we have a chance to come and play in Israel is very very exciting and emotional, and it also feels like a new chapter.
